NORTHBROOK, IL, March 2007 – Ray Jones of our Northbrook, Illinois office presented the results of the Confectionery Research Initiative at the NCA 2007 State of the Industry Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on Thursday, March 1, 2007.

The research conducted by Dechert-Hampe, under the direction of the NCA Trade Relations Committee, identified a $10 Billion growth opportunity for the industry. Major national retailers from multiple channels participated in the research, representing over 20,000 stores and 15% of the U.S. ACV.

The research included:

  • Interviews with retailers, manufacturers and brokers/sales agents
  • Audits of over 1000 retail stores to measure in-store conditions and merchandising approaches
  • In-store research with over 900 consumers to understand Confectionery shopping behavior
  • Analysis of retail store sales performance to identify best practices
